Fundraising at Hedges

At Hedges, every child has an individual fundraising account that is tracked by the Parent Advisory Council. Any profits made from fundraisers throughout the school year are accumulated and can be used to offset costs for various school activities, such as Grade 7 camp, band camp, instrument rentals, student fees, sports jerseys, ski trip, etc. There will be 2-3 optional fundraisers per month that your child can participate in. A withdrawal form must be accompanied by each request for funds (see below). At the end of grade 8, any remaining funds will be transferred to a sibling attending Hedges the following year or deposited into the general account. 

Our first fundraisers of the year are Show and Save books, and Peak of the Market Veggies. Information will be sent home with students on Friday, September 8th. If you do not want your child to participate in the fundraisers, simply ask them to say "no thank you" when forms are being passed out by homeroom teachers.

Hedges Gear


Clothing will be sold Wednesday (Sept. 6) and Thursday (Sept. 7) during Triad conferences.  Clothing will be sold at lunch hours until September 22.  All orders and questions can be directed to Mr. Betz.

September 2017



It is September and we are back ready for action at Hedges Middle School.  Stay tuned to this blog for write-ups, pictures and videos of all of the events and activities going on.  The Hedges Hawks are a busy bunch and there are plenty of photographers out there capturing the action.

Made in Manitoba Breakfast

Last week, Hawks were treated to a "Made in Manitoba" Breakfast & presentation.  Every item consumed was produced/grown in Manitoba - and it was delicious!

1st Annual Graduation Pow Wow

St. James-Assiniboia School Division is excited to announce our first annual Graduation Pow Wow taking place on Thursday, June 1st, at St. James Collegiate (1900 Portage Ave.). 
The Graduation Pow Wow is free to attend and is open to all members of the community. We look forward to welcoming students, staff, and community members to this inaugural celebration. Please see event details below:
Pipe Ceremony: 4:00 p.m.
Drum/Dancer Registration: 4:00-5:15 p.m.
Community Feast: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Grand Entry: 5:15 p.m.
Closing Ceremony: 7:45 p.m.

Alice @ Wonderland!

The stage is dismantled.  The props have been returned.  But our memories of Wonderland will stick around for quite a while!

The students & staff involved with the Hedges drama production finished their final show last night and we couldn't be prouder.  Great work, everyone!

Grade 8 Career Exploration

The grade 8s are participating in a variety of career related activities. They began with a matchmaker on the Career Cruising site to explore different careers. Twelve girls attended the Young Women's Conference at RRC and now all grade 8s will be going to an afternoon trip on May 12th to learn about careers. There are 6 different locations for the trip, so please look at your child's permission form carefully and return ASAP!
